taking a cruise in march 2011, out of ft lauderdale, fl. looking for a hotel close to airport that has a shuttle service to the cruise line port, any recommendations

We stayed at the Hyatt Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale which was accross the bridge from the port where the cruise ships sailed. I think they also give special rates to cruisers.

For a listing of possible hotel accommodations, check out Ft. Lauderdale Hotels here (http://bit.ly/aMM6GT) and call the hotel you are interested in to determine if they offer a shuttle service. Also, you may be able to call the cruise line for hotel recommendations nearby that offer a shuttle.
