Planning a Honeymoon to New Orleans.. Where would you suggest to go to make this a special but inexpensive trip for new wife and me?

One note of caution... Call ahead or check recent reviews on hotels there were the prices seem "too good to be true," not every hotel has recovered since the days of Katrina.

Of course just walking around the French Quarter (plus the Riverwalk) and taking it all in is a fun and free activity. Or you can take a street car uptown to the beautiful zoo. Street cars are fun to ride and cost next to nothing. For a hotel, try to book something just a block or two outside of the French Quarter. You will save a lot of money that way.
