October is a great time to visit, especially given all the autumn airfare deals! You'll also get to enjoy classic cities such as London, Paris, and Rome without the crowds. Obviously, sometimes the weather can be a bit chillier or rainier than in the summer, say, but you might get some of that crisp, sunny autumn weather, too (and, of course, there is so much to see and do in any big European city, that I think you'll barely notice the weather!). Other European cities I'd recommend: Barcelona, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Munich, Venice... the list is pretty much endless. See what kind of deals you can find from where you live and take it from there! On a personal note, I visited West Sweden last October and had an amazing time. Beautiful fall colors, few crowds, and loads of great outdoor adventures to enjoy (including sea kayaking and lobster safaris on the little-visited Koster Islands -- worth the effort to get there from Gothenburg!). Let me know if you need more ideas. Happy to help!
