Our family of three, mom, dad and 5 year old boy are planning a trip to the Cape. What should we not miss and not have to hear, "I'm bored." or "I want to go home."?

Assuming you're hitting the Cape in summer, I should think that hitting the beach every day with a five-year-old will be more than enough! Try beaches around Eastham, notably Skaket. The beaches on the bayside tend to be a bit more family-friendly with good shallows for wading and fewer waves. Cape Cod National Seashore is scenic but the waves tend to be a bit bigger here. Mix in ice-cream stops in quaint towns like Chatham and Wellfleet, plus bike rides and hikes and you'll be fine. You just better hope it doesn't rain, as the Cape's not much fun when the weather turns, as I discovered a few years ago! cf. http://blogs.away.com/travel/2008/04/cape-cod-a-caut.html
