Our cruise stops at Freeport and Nassau. Because I'm on a budget, which is the closest free beach to go to and how would I get there (is it walking distance or do I have to catch a taxi and if so, what is the price range for a taxi ride)? Or what is the cheapest mode of transportation?

In Nassau - Walk west along the water towards Senor Frogs. Then follow the road around The British Colonial Hotel. After you have gone around the whole hotel, keep walking to the first traffic light. Look right , there's the beach.

Two beaches to check out are Lighthouse beach and Cabbage beach. They are both within walking distance, though taxis are very inexpensive if you choose to drive.
