Really hard to narrow to a few choices, Cathy, as Colorado is packed with amazing places to camp with the family. Obviously, Rocky Mountain National Park is a big draw for adventurous families. Away.com's sister site, GORP.com, has some excellent info on things to do in the park here: http://www.gorp.com/parks-guide/rocky-mountain-national-park-outdoor-pp2-guide-cid9301.html
There's also a newly published Southwest road-trip feature here: http://www.gorp.com/parks-guide/travel-ta-the-ultimate-southwest-road-trip-sidwcmdev_159199.html, which should offer some other ideas in the state. Lastly, and I know I'm just scratching the surface of all there is to do in Colorado, here's a piece on family adventures near Denver: http://away.com/weekend-guide/travel-ta-snow-sports-denver-sidwcmdev_053131.html
Hope this helps. Let me know if you other ideas!
