My three girlfriends and I are planning a 3-day get-away to Kansas City beginning Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, and we look forward to exploring activities on water, finding good "jazz" & "oldies" music spots, and having unique experiences that only Kansas City can offer. When I visited years ago, there was an area in town that had a "speak easy" museum and actors portraying blues musicians on the street. Is that still a tourist attraction? Any information available will enhance our visit, I'm sure. We'll be driving from St. Louis. Thanks!

Not sure about the museum, but you could try a "real" speakeasy in the shape of Firefly Lounge in Westport (http://blogs.pitch.com/fatcity/2008/12/now_open_firefly_loungemodern.php). The Blue Room at the American Jazz Museum might be another good place to get your Prohibition-era swing on.
