My husband remembers going to a manmade "watering hole" as a child somewhere along skyline drive. He remembers specifically that it was man made and that it had zip lines into the man made "lake". He would like to take his children to this location, but has not been able to figure out where exactly it might be. Can you assist with the name and location, if it is still in operation?

I think he went to Shendoah Acers in Stuarts Draft,Va the only one that had a zip line that I know of. But it is closed down now.

Are you thinking one of the four-season resorts in the area, including Bryce Resort, which isn't technically on Skyline Drive but does have a manmade lake and a zipline (not together, though!). Other places might include Masanutten or Wintergreen. The only other place I can think of might be Peaks of Otter Lodge (http://vacation.away.com/hotels/travel-ld-cid2488-roanoke-hotelid814412-peaks-of-otter-wilderness-lodge-hotel.html), which overlooks Abbot Lake, though I'm not aware of a zipline into the lake there.
