My Husband and I are planning a family trip out west (WY, MT, SD, CO possibly)in the month of August. We are planning on driving with our 5th Wheele and camping along the way. I am looking for guidance on intriguing destinations for my 5 and 3 year old daughters! Could you offer some suggestions regarding Parks for camping that might be centrally located in each these locations in which we can travel during the day to see Black Hills, Mount Rushmore, Yellow Stone National Park/Grand Tetons, Etc. Also if you have some suggestions for some ideas for the girls that will create a family vacation they will not forget. Thank you so much for your help!

The Black Hills have a weird & wonderful side stop, don't miss "COSMOS", on the way to Rushmore for great, silly pictures & memories. The KIDS WILL LOVE IT! The Borglum Museum in Keystone, S.D., very close to Rushmore, is a must. Soft-serve ice cream at Rushmore is excellent, too :) Walk the trails! Go to travelyellowstone.com, & click on "Things to Do" & RV campsite info, etc., is under "Lodging", then "Camping". Ranger-led activities for kids; nps.gov/yell, "For Kids". Click on "Publications": Read the Park Planner & the official park paper for great info. Mammoth Hot Springs (Gardiner, MT entrance) you'll see elk herds early & at dusk, munching on hotel lawn grass! Buffalo often cross the roads! (Enjoy both at a distance; they aren't tame!) Stay on trails at thermal features; keep kids on leash :) The big, new Visitor Center at Canyon has cool displays about Yellowstone's features upstairs. Take a ferry ride across Jenny Lake in Teton. Cody, WY, has a terrific nightly rodeo.
