Plan your route carefully; More time, the better. Get Annual Pass from National Park Service, $80. Buy online, or at Badlands NP (Will save you $$) To maximize sight-seeing, consider making a loop once you get past Chicago;take I-80 across Iowa & I-90 across S.D. into MT. Don't miss Badlands NP & Mt. Rushmore! Go back up to I-90; don't miss Devil's Tower, a few miles north of Sundance, WY. Get back on I-90, take Laurel, MT exit to go to YNP via the gorgeous, not-to-be-missed Beartooth Highway (U.S. Hwy 212 West, Red Lodge, MT). From YNP, go out the south entrance into Grand Teton NP near Jackson Hole, WY. Consider going back up, out YNP's East entrance to Cody, WY. Take U.S. Hwy 14 East through the breathtaking Big Horn Mountains, & catch I-90. Take I-25 from Buffalo, WY, down to Cheyenne, WY, into Colorado. Take I-25 to 34 West: You must visit Rocky Mtn. NP! From I-25, take I-70 East to head back across Kansas, Missouri, etc. Or go back the northern loop with I-80.
