Perhaps you were thinking about the beach at Morse Park, which is in Noblesville, just northeast of Indianapolis? The park has a small beach with supervised swimming in Morse Reservoir during the summer. You could also try Mississinewa Lake, which has a beach and swimming. Mississinewa is about 80 miles north of Indianapolis. Of course, there's always the lake beaches of Lake Michigan in and around Gary, Indiana.
