Live in DC, what are the best beaches to go to?
Would like to travel less than 5 hours, preferably under 3. Somewhere that has good food and nice beaches.

If you are looking to stay in Maryland you can't go wrong with Ocean City. The boardwalk is miles long with tons of games, rides, arcades, restaurants and nightlife. The beach there is clean and big, but can get quite crowded on a hot summer day. A long walk on the boardwalk at night is a good way to kill some time and do some great people watching. Very big summer destination for MD/VA/PA high schoolers and college kids. If you are looking for a more low key, family-friendly beach, you can travel about 15 minutes north of Ocean City across the Delaware border and check out Bethany Beach. The boardwalk is tiny compared to Ocean City but there are some nice shops and places to eat. Beaches are clean, and though they can get crowded, it's still a little more accessible than OC is. A few miles north of Bethany Beach in Delaware is Rehobeth Beach. Tons of really nice bohemian type shops and restaurants and a nice boardwalk with some arcades and restaurants. The beach is long and clean and is a great mix of young and old. Would make a great day trip if you were staying at one of the other beaches. Probably the best of the beaches for range of cuisine.
