Is March a good time to visit the Yosemite National Park? We are interested in rock climbing, hiking and visiting the highest peak there.

One of the best times is in the spring. It could be cold but this can very widely. April is also good as the melting snow really charges the famous water falls. Try to go before June when school is out. Many people from distant lands visit in the Spring but it's not crowded. Something about the valley makes people wonderfully friendly. You are best able to enjoy the Valley by bicycle as most of the sights are found on the circular road and trails on the valley floor. Other parts of the park are best reached by car, often many miles apart and some rather steep road climbs that are too steep and too far for bike riding. Also some of these roads are not really wide enough to be safe for riding. In the summer there is some public transit. It's a very special place.

March is still cold. If you plan on hiking, definitely wear a sweater! Rock climbing could be hard because of the weather (wind or snow). Plan ahead and pack accordingly. Visit http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/winter.htm for more information on opening hours, weather, and fees and reservations.
