#1 thing I thought of when I saw this question was going to Rockefeller center, seeing the tree and ice skating!

New York City is an awesome place to visit in December. Just be sure to take the hats, the scarfs, and the mittens. Wear layers as you can be hot during the sun in the middle of the day and cold in the shadows of the buildings. Go towards the beginning of December and you can see all of the fabulous holiday decorations. Rockefeller tree, ice skating at Bryant Park, and walk 5th Avenue and see all the store
