How about Delray, Florida, a low-key place between West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale? Away.com's family-travel expert Steve Jermanok blogged about Delray recently at: http://blogs.away.com/family_guide/2008/06/vintage-florida.html. Amelia Island, northeast of Jacksonville, is also a very kid-friendly.
