I'm looking for a daytrip for my friend and myself anywhere from 1-4 hours from Scranton, Pa. We're not really interested in Philly, Lancaster, and the Pocono's, we've been there done that. We're looking for someplace where there is good shopping and restaurants, a spa/salon, maybe a waterpark. Any suggestions?

I have a suggestion for you -- the Susquehanna River Valley in Central PA (www.VisitCentralPA.org). It's a 2 hour drive from Scranton. The region offers a really nice combination of rural countrysides, Amish farms, farmers markets, etc. and thriving college towns, like Selinsgrove (home of Susquehanna University) and Lewisburg (home of Bucknell University). It's also a very family-friendly destination with attractions like Knoebels Amusement Resort (www.knoebels.com), Reptiland (www.reptiland.com) and T&Ds Cats of the World (www.tdscats.com). We also have 3 wonderful wineries, great shopping/antiquing and dining, and river views everywhere you look. Check it out at www.VisitCentralPA.org - and request a free Visitors Guide while you're there.

The Hotel Hershey (http://vacation.away.com/hotels/travel-ld-cid312512-hershey-hotelid813458-the-hotel-hershey-and-spa-hotel.html), near Harrisburg in central PA, might be your best bet, which has a spa as well as outdoor pool area with a few slides, etc. You're also close to some nice wineries in the Susquehanna Valley area (more info at: http://www.visitcentralpa.org).
