Both cities should be a lot of fun. I haven't actually been to Montreal, but have visited Vancouver a couple of times. Lots to do there, including some outdoorsy stuff if you head over to Grouse Mountain or around Stanley Park. Granville Island has a nice little market and outdoor stalls and cafes for browsing. The Museum of Anthropology over on the University of British Columbia campus is quite impressive (though it's a bit of a hike to get there). The nightlife happens around the Gaslight District, though must say I felt a few of the areas nearby were a bit sketchy at night. Another Canadian option to consider would be Toronto, which has loads going on and an eclectic mix of cuisines and ethnic neighborhoods. There's some nice little galleries and bars over in the Distillery District, plus St. Lawrence and Kensington markets are both fun to browse. Enjoy!

Hello Vanessa! Montreal would be a great place to go with friends. The city is so quaint and beautiful but still has a great nightlife and culinary scene. Must-sees include the Basilique Notre-Dame... a bit of a tourist trap but it really is beautiful. Montreal's public markets are amazing- fresh fruit and veggies, shops selling only cheese or wine, and some where you can sit down right in the market and have your meal. Atwater and Jean-Talon are the best. The Bota Bota is really cool floating spa. You can do a yoga class or get mani/pedis there if you don't want to splurge on a full treatment. If you can get tickets to a Cirque du Soleil show there, I highly recommend it. Montreal is where the show was founded. If you're there in late June, early July, try to time it around the Montreal Jazz Festival. And lastly, try to get a hotel in Old Montreal, a quaint part of town with cobblestone streets. It's incredibly beautiful during the winter when the snow is on the ground. Check out Hotel Nelligan, one of my favorites. Good luck planning your trip and have fun with your friends!
