I want to drive thru the Keys, probably April or May, but I don't want to make...
I want to drive thru the Keys, probably April or May, but I don't want to make reservations at hotels in advance. I want to stop and go as I wish. What chances are there in getting a room when and where I want one?

Assuming that you're looking to go between spring break (early April) and the summer holiday season (mid-May onwards), I think you should be OK. Pack a tent and you can always pull up in Keys campgrounds such as those at Long Key State Park or Bahia Honda State Park. (Besides, getting under the canvas is a great way to get beachfront lodging for a much, much cheaper price!)
