I heard that Paromount Carowinds was not a good park to go to. They say it is over priced, they have terrible rides and the service is not great at all. I am in Texas and we will be traveling to Charlotte, NC this summer with our church. We are looking for a nice place where the children can enjoy themselves as much as the adults. First, is the amusement park that bad? Second, what other places would you suggest?

Hi - we have lived outside of Charlotte for 2 years, and last year we purchased a season pass from Carowinds for the 1st time. It is a very good park to visit, and is comparable to other Paramount amusement parks. We have a 7 year old and a 3 year old, and there were plenty of rides to keep them busy. They also have a water park to cool off when you need a break, which is nice. The staff varies, so the service is adequate but nothing to brag about. But the rides are great! Tons of coasters, lots of games. You will need to spend the entire day to get your money's worth if you do not get a pass. Hope this helps - have a nice trip!

We just recently moved to NC - our 14th move ... and we did it because we just decided to do it - and so far, so good. Recently, our 2 older daughters (19 and 21) and our youngest daughter (15) decided to go to the park. I'd been there many yars ago ... prices - expected - not cheap, but certainly within range. Rides - we had a ball ... some of the best thrill rides (their choices) I've been on ... lots of rides for all ages ...lastly, shows are available, but we didn't go to any. In my past, I saw The 4 Seasons (my parents took me), James taylor and Jimmy Buffett here ... so - check the dates.

This is my first time doing a reply - I am in an airport, heading out of the country ... and was logging on to see what we could all do over thanksgiving - my first click led to your email and I opted to reply ...

best to you ... God bless

Not having been there, I can't speak for Carowinds, but I'm sure it can't be that bad. As for other ideas, you might enjoy the whitewater thrills at the new National Whitewater Center, the hands-on science fun at Discovery Place, or the NASCAR roar at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
