Wow, sounds exciting. Chicago's a great city, plus there's loads happening there in the summer. Lollapalooza is the big outdoor rock festival that takes place in Grant Park in early August. There's also tons of other free outdoor events and concerts throughout the summer. Grant Park and Millennium Park are really nice places to stroll. Take a guided walking tour with the Chicago Architecture Foundation to learn about the city's amazing skyscrapers (talking of which, the glass ledge at the SkyDeck, formerly the Sears Tower, is a pretty cool experience). Catch a White Sox baseball game at Wrigley Field to get your dose of Americana. If you like soccer, Chicago Fire is the local MLS franchise and they have games throughout the summer, including a friendly against Manchester United. Lots of great clubs, bars, and restaurants, too, not to mention cool live-music scene. And I hope they don't work you too hard at your new gig, as you should take the opportunity to explore! You're within road-trip range of iconic sights such a Yellowstone and the Mount Rushmore; closer, you've got Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore as well as stunning Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore farther north in upper Michigan. Chicago's a hop from fantastic Canadian cities including Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec City. So much to do, so little time! Here's a link to a guide we did on Chicago that will give a few other pointers. Have a great summer! http://away.com/plan-a-trip/city-guides/Chicago_Guide.pdf
