It is a little over 3,000 miles from San Diego to Boston--it should take you about 2 days if you only stopping for food and gas.

This would be quite the road trip. It would take around 47 hours.

That's just about as long as you can drive in the U.S. without leaving the lower 48 or making like James Bond and going amphibious. Distance is over 3,000 miles, so budget about six days assuming you're going at a steady rate of 500 miles/day. Give yourself 7-10 days to really Jack Kerouac it.
