Hi,me and my family (2 young daughters)are driving up to cape cod on saturday from Washington DC,and would love to stop off at New York for the afternoon and night. My question is would it be better to stay in accommodation on the out skirts of the city and travel in,as i've read parking is a real problem? And what area would anyone recommend if so? Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Gary

Hi, Gary, I surveyed the Away.com office for you and my colleagues had the following advice for you: Option A) find a hotel in the city that offers parking (even if you have to pay, by the time you factor in the cost of transport and hassle of getting into city, you'll come out ahead). As my colleague wrote, "Overnight parking runs around $25-40. Staying in the city, especially this time of year, is pretty easy--and it puts them in the thick of it. For one night, it'd be worth whatever hassles." Option B is to find a hotel in Brooklyn close to the L train, which puts you within easy striking distance of Manhattan, plus hotels in Brooklyn are that much cheaper than downtown. Have a great trip, plus enjoy Cape Cod! (Shame you can't get the Ashes cricket commentary on the radio for your drive, eh?!)
