Want to go to Taste of Chicago festival,Hancock building, and Navy Pier for fireworks, tour magnificent mile, and see millinieum park.Any other suggestions for that weekend and are these events walkable from where I am staying.Any restaurant advice for that area for family of four that will not kill my pocket book but good food. Yes, everything is within walking distance (up to 1 mile). The Grand Luxe cafe on Michigan Ave is really good and reasonably priced. A great free thing to do in the evening is Summerdance: Thursday-Sunday there is a free dance lesson (all types of dance), followed by 2 hours of live music at the Spirit Garden on the south end of Grant Park at Michigan Ave. Check out metromix to find all kinds of events. Here's a few things to keep in mind for your visit--everything you guys are interested in doing is great to see once, but they are all very touristy and will be PACKED, especially that weekend. Don't get up close to the fireworks on Navy Pier or you will never get out--it's packed shoulder to shoulder and will, literally, take hours to get out if you get in too deep. Beware of Chicago public transportation--it's the best way to get around but is notoriously unreliable. If you need to be somewhere at a certain time, you will be smart to give yourself an extra 30 minutes.

All you are planning to do will probably take all weekend, and all is within a reasonable walking distance, but there is the free trolley and a great bus system with 3 day reduced fare passes available. Tons of good restaurants in the area from the food court at Macy's to great steak houses and many good Italian spots. Bubba Gump's at Navy Pier is one of my favorites! The Lincoln Park zoo is fun to visit too!
