Head over to Lee County's Manatee Park, about 40 miles east of your location, where you'll find manatees in a non-captive refuge. Optimum viewing times are between November and March due to the cooler gulf temperatures. There are a number of dolphin-watching cruises and kayak tours offered out of Sarasota, notably in and around Brandenton.
