Can you tell me where is a decent place to stay in New Jersey that is by the beach and only about 1 or 2 hours away from New york?

Ocean Grove is a great place to stay on the Jersey Shore. it's designated as a National Historic Site. Only an hour and 45 min from NY.
A Victorian village with a boardwalk and wonderful restaurants. It offers wonderful vacation rentals - see www.OceanGroveRentals.com for vacation rentals by owner. Many of the houses have been beautifully renovated & restored. Lots of events and restaurants in the area with walking distance. See www.OceanGrove.ws for a list of restaurants & events in the area.
