Awesome, road trip! Albeit a long one, with about 1,000 miles of driving. If I'm reading the map correctly, your likely route will take you up through Oklahoma or Arkansas and then Illinois up to Wisconsin. I think your kids might enjoy the hilly, lake-filled Ozarks region of northwestern Arkansas and southwestern Missouri. Two places that spring to mind here are Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks or Branson, both of which are packed with resorts, cabins and camping, parks (of the natural and not-so-natural variety), and plentiful amenities for families. Next, check out St. Louis, where you can scale the Gateway Arch, see the animals at the St. Louis Zoo, or catch a Cardinals ballgame at Busch Stadium. From there, I'd probably recommend you make a beeline for Chicago, one of America's all-time great family cities. Take your pick from the Field Museum, The Art Institute, John G. Shedd Aquarium, Millennium Park, and so much more. From Chicago, it's due north up Lake Michigan and past cities like Milwaukee and smaller Sheboygan, with plenty of other places to stop and play by (and on) the lake.
