Assuming you want to avoid the hurricanes, Hawaii & the pacific side of the country are your better choices. Supposedly in the last 50 years Hawaii has had around 5 hurricanes that has caused damage to the islands. And according to Atlantic Oceanographic & Meteorological Laboratory the hurricanes in the NE Pacific generally track away from the US coast and the waters are typically cooler on the west coast side which can reduce the strength of a storm as well.
As for the east coast, surprisingly north of Tampa and east of Panama City, you only have a 2-4% chance of a hurricane directly hitting in the month of September (the busiest hurricane month). Same with beaches above Jacksonville & below Savannah. Of course you will not find many hurricanes hitting the northeastern beaches either, but as with anything, there is always a chance.
