While still challenging to travel legally to Cuba, President Obama has eased some of the political tensions and opened up opportunities. As a U.S. citizen, it is possible to travel legally if visiting family, conducting professional research, studying abroad, or participating in humanitarian projects (though months of planning and patience is involved). Once cleared however, visiting Cuba is worth the hassle—beautiful beaches, distinct cultural history, and year-round sunny weather.
