What to do in Alta Lake State Park

Alta Lake State Park includes 181 acres with 4,000 feet of freshwater shoreline along Alta Lake. The park has 300 feet of beach and a 0.6 mile hiking trail. Two boat launch ramps and a launch dock are provided for the boating enthusiast.

Camping facilities include 148 standard campsites and 9 group campsites (capacity 88 people). RV campers are provided with 32 RV sites with electricity. A trailer dump is located within the park.

Other amenities include 20 picnic sites, two kitchen shelters, three comfort stations and a bathhouse.

Recreation includes picnicking, camping, bird watching, hiking, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, fishing, scuba diving, boating, water skiing and swimming.

Alta Lake State Park is located in Okanogan County in north central Washington. The park is four miles southwest of Pateros off Highway 153.

Washington's climate varies with each region. The Cascades split the state and alter weather patterns. Alta Lake State Park, located east of the mountains, receives significantly less rainfall than regions west of the mountains with an average annual precipitation of twelve inches.

Average summer temperatures are 94 degrees maximum and 50 degrees minimum. Because central Washington is landlocked and subject to winter winds, winter temperatures are much colder than those in western Washington.
